Worksheet Overview

Shakespeare

William Shakespeare was an actor and playwright whose work was not only revered and enjoyed throughout his life, but has lasted until today, when we still study his plays and poetry.

To understand Shakespeare (aside from the language!) we must be aware of the context in which he lived and wrote.

Understanding the social, cultural and historical context of his writing can aid our understanding and indeed our analysis.

In this activity, you will see a variety of extracts from his work and identify evidence of the impact of context.
