Worksheet Overview

Types of Tree

Deciduous Tree

In Year 1 we learn about different types of tree. Firstly, it's really important to be able to name all the different parts of a tree and know what they do.

Ivy leaf

This is a leaf. Leaves grow from the branches and help the tree to soak up sunshine and produce energy for the tree.

Tree roots

These are tree roots. They absorb water for the tree, and help it to stay fixed in the ground.

Apple tree

There are apples growing on this tree. Some trees grow fruit which we can eat! We must be careful though as some trees grow berries which are not safe for humans to eat, although squirrels and other woodland animals love them!

A tree with pink blossom

Some trees grow beautiful blossom. This usually blooms in the spring.

Can you think of any other parts of a tree, and what they do?

Let's get started on those questions!
