Are you ready to become an 'excellent evaluater'?
When we evaluate our writing, we are looking at it again.
We are checking to see if our work makes sense, looking for any spelling or punctuation mistakes and checking it’s the best it can possibly be.
This means reading our descriptions and word choices.
We might use words like verbs - these are action words such as: skipping, laughing, smiled, walked.
Or we might use adverbs which describe the verb like this: laughing quietly, skipping merrily, smiled broadly, walked carefully.
They can also tell us when, where or how often something happens like: I swim twice a week or I went to school yesterday.
In this activity,, we will be focusing on the adverbs that describe how an action happens.
When we add words like these to our writing, it shows us how something is being done and gives us a better feel for the characters and what is going on.
So:
verbs = action words
adverbs = we add to describe how something is done.
In this activity, you’ll help Charlie to spot adverbs and put amazing adverbs into her writing.
