Proofreading.
What does that mean?
Proofreading is what we do when we check our work or a partner’s work. We are looking for spelling mistakes or missing/incorrect punctuation.
We want to make sure that our writing is the best it can be, so that other people can read it and see how great we are at writing!
When we proofread our own work, we can make those changes or edits.
If we proofread someone else’s work, then they can fix it with our help!
Read this sentence below. Do you spot any mistakes?
This iz teh best day ever.
Here, we have two spelling mistakes of our tricky words ‘is’ and ‘the’.
After spelling, check punctuation.
This sentence has a capital letter and a full stop, so this all looks good now.
If we wanted, we could improve it by adding an exclamation mark, to show how excited they are, like this:
This is the best day ever!
