Curriculum subtopic:   Assess Use of Tenses

Difficulty level:

Worksheet Overview

When you write, it is important that your work makes sense.

One of the ways to do this, is to have tense agreement in your sentences.

Tense agreement is when the verb matches the rest of the sentence. So, if you are telling a story in the past tense, for example, then all of your verbs must in the past tense.

Or if you are talking about three people, but your verb only shows one, this would cause confusion!

Your verb has to agree with the subject in the sentence. The subject is who or what the sentence is about. The subject and the verb need to work together.

In this activity, you will see different sentences and be asked to make sure the tense agreement is correct.
