Everything in the world around us is made out of something - everything is made out of a material.

 

The materials all have properties, the properties help us to decide what to use the materials for.

Look at the photo of the play park.

There are lots of materials in the photo that have been used differently due to their properties.

 

Green slide - made from plastic - hard wearing, smooth and waterproof.

Blue steps - made from metal - strong, hard wearing, not breakable

Paving stones - made from concrete - strong, hard wearing, heavy, can tolerate a big force 

 

In this activity, there will be different properties.

All you have to do is decide what material they could be describing from using the list provided.
