Worksheet Overview

Materials is a scientific word that we use to tell us what objects are made out of.

When an object is designed and made, it is important to choose the best materials for the job, and this is why it is important to look at the properties of each material.

The properties tell us what each material is good at.

A school desk for example, may be made from wood, plastic or metal or even a mixture of all three.

A school desk needs to be strong, lightweight and hard-wearing and these are all properties of wood, plastic and metal.
