Worksheet Overview

Everything around us is made of a material.  In science we ask 'What material is it made of?'

When objects are designed, the properties of each material are examined to decide on the best material to use.

The properties tell us what each material is good at.

A bottle or drinks container may be made from glass, plastic or even thick-coated cardboard.

A bottle or drinks container needs to be waterproof, strong and lightweight.

Due to plastic rubbish becoming a problem for our planet, waterproof cardboard is becoming a more popular choice.

In this activity, we will have different situations.

All you have to do is decide what material is best for an object in that situation, based on its properties.
