'Understand Why We Choose Particular Materials' worksheet

Worksheet Overview

When we want to make something, we consider what is the best material to use.

We think about the properties of the material - the properties help us to decide which is the best material to use.

Look at this snowman.  He is wearing a winter scarf and a hat.

The purpose of a winter scarf and hat are to keep us warm and they must be comfortable.

We therefore must choose a material with the properties of being flexible, easy to wear and light in weight.

We could choose either wool or fabric.

We would not choose metal for example.  Metal isn't flexible to wear and is too heavy!

Let's practise looking at the properties of different materials.
