Materials is the name given to what the things around us are made out of.

 

There are many different materials, here are a few:

wood    plastic    glass    metal

paper    fabric    wool    leather

 

Can you see anything made from any of these materials where you are sitting?

Each material has its own properties.

Properties are the things that the material can do.

 

Here are a few different properties:

strong    soft    bendy    hard    waterproof

breakable    absorbent    flexible

 

In this activity,  there are going to be several different objects.

All you have to do is decide what material is the best to use to make it based on its properties.
